For me it is because I have been lucky enough to meet some great people these past years, and some of them are so dedicated to the hobby. Every item they find tells a different story and makes you ask questions.
Who lost this? Where was it made? I wonder what is cost? Did the person who lost it get into trouble?

I used to walk old roads years ago before I even became interested in MDing. I always wondered who had walked this path before, Roman Legionnaires or Pilgrims ? Since metal detecting I now have a different view ... looking at items I found... how was it used how precious was it to the person who lost it. Everyday items are for me just as interesting as "special" finds.
